Abstract

The present study revealed that for 60 days refrigerated storage (0 ± 1°C) the harvesting of China, Flemish Beauty and Max Red Bartlett pears should be done at 120, 127, 142 days from full bloom respectively, while fruits of cultivars Bartlett Laxton's Superb and Starking Delicious should be picked at (126, 132 and 127 DFFB, respectively). The corresponding dates almost coincided with the climacteric rise in respiration and ethylene evolution rates. These fruits were the most acceptable after removal from storage as they scored highest numerical ratings for organoleptic test.
