Effect of silicon given as a foliar spray in the concentration 100 to 400 ppm on a rice variety Satya has stimulated tiller formation, vegetative luxuriance and photosynthetic efficiency. Both 5 seconds and 1 hour pulse chasing has revealed that at 400 ppm not only the initial rate of incorporation is higher but it doubles after a lapse of 1 hour. The rate of tillering also doubles at 400 ppm of silicon.
