The effect of potassium deficiency on ribonuclease (RNase) activity in (Cajanus cajan L. Type 21) plants was studied under sand culture condition. The leaves of deficient plants exhibited an appreciable increase in the activity of this enzyme and only RNase I was detected in the leaves and seeds. Except in the extreme deficiency, potassium status of the plants did not affect the normal developmental pattern of isozymes. The increased RNase activity in the leaves of deficient plants could not be interpreted as the hunger sign of the crop for this element.
