Effect of γ-irradiation on the growth of Sorghum vulgare
Abstract
The effect of γ-rays from Co60 on growth and development of Sorghum seeds was studied. It has been found that doses of 3 and 5 Kr increased the percentage germination, while no apparent change was noticed on the root and shoot elongation. Leaf growth and leaf initiation was stimulated more at lower doses. Higher doses i.e. above 10 Kr had inhibitory effect on all growth processes except the leaf growth.
