Studies on the senescence factor and foliar abscission in Catharanthus roseus revealed that petioles 3-6 fell in an acropetal fashion. Senescent petiole and leaf and non-senescent petiole showed the presence of a senescence factor (S.F.). Non-senescent leaf deterred the petiolar fall. These findings have been discussed in extension of previous work (Prakash, 1976 a-c).
