Culture filtrate of Fusarium oxysporum Sheld. f. sp. carthami damaged leaf cells of safflower which lost their osmoregulating function. In the beginning of the treatment the rate of transpiration was increased but later a sharp decline was noticed. Alkalinity of the culture filtrate reduced transpiration rate. Prevention of water loss checked wilting.
