A comparative growth analysis of Artemisia vulgaris L. was made with a view to find out the morpho-physiological changes brought about in this species at different altitudes. This species basically seems to be well adapted to temperate conditions. The growth, development and differentiation is inhibited at higher altitude, and the senescence and maturation is delayed, with increasing altitude above 4500 ft. The differential effect of altitudinal variations on plant processes seems to be related to changing atmospheric temperature and pressure.
