Water uptake by the leaves of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum) under artificially produced dew in the sky-radiator was tested. The differences in the water uptake under two conditions of exposure, 1. with both the leaf surfaces and 2. only the lower surfaces exposed, to vapor and liquid water exchange were 34.9 and 18.6 mg dm−2 hour−3 respectively. Sealing the upper leaf surfaces to water exchange reduced foliar water uptake.
