Abstract

In sand culture kinetin resulted in earlier nodule initiation, whereas IAA delayed this process. Both the regulators brought about considerable increase in fresh and dry weights of nodules, however, higher concentrations of IAA resulted in the reduction of these parameters. Leghemoglobin content of nodule was higher in all the kinetin treated plants and lower doses of IAA as compared to control. Application of kinetin decreased nitrogen content of all the plant parts at initial sampling stage but increased later on. Treatment with IAA decreased nitrogen content of nodules and leaves at initial stage, but increased subsequently.
