Hexokinase activity was determined in intact seeds and light grown seedlings of soybean var. Bragg by the method of Cox and Dickinson (1973). The intact seeds did not show any activity. However activity appeared after 6 hours in both axis and cotyledon. It was maximum at 48 hours in the cotyledon particulate. Afterwards the activity declined as germination progressed. Mitochondrial and soluble fractions were prepared by centrifugation at 16000 g. Activity was found in both the fractions.
