Effect of Root-Dipping Treatment with Growth Regulators on Growth and Yield of Solanum Melongena L.
Abstract
The growth regulators AA, GA, IAA, AA+GA with concentrations of 50, 100 and 250 ppm and thiourea with 0.2% concentration, applied as root dip treatments were found to be effective in increasing the yield of Solatium melongena over the control Flowering was hastened by 45 days by all the root-dipping treatments. It was observed that the treatments AA 50, 100 and 250 and ppm and AA+GA 100 ppm, GA 250 ppm and thiourea 0.2% have given more number of fruits per plant and weight per fruit over rest of the treatments. For the growth regulators tested, the highest doses of AA and GA (i. e. 250 ppm) individually have given highest yield of 213 and 200 quintals per hectare, which counts 69% and 58% in increased yield rove control respectively.
