The effects of different spacings viz., (i) 45 cm x 60 cm, (ii) 60 cm x 75 cm, (iii) 90 cm x 90 cm. (iv) 90 cm X 120 cm, (v) 90 cm x 150 cm, and (vi) 120 cm X 120 cm on solasodine content of the berries and per hectare solasodine yield have been studied. Solasodine contents of the berries obtained from closer spacings have been found to be lower in comparison with the wider spacings. Closer spacings gave higher per hectare yields of berries and solasodine. However, wider spacing has been recommonded for the crop in view of the suitability of fertilizers requirement, inter-culture and harvesting. 90cm x J 50cm was found to be the most suitable spacing for cultivation with estimated yield of 84 kg solasodine/ha at the basal dose of N90 P90 K45.
