Effect of Growth Regulators on Podding and Yield of Mung Bean (Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek)

Abstract

Growth regulators viz., 2,3,5-triiodobenzoic acid (TIBA); 2,4,5-triehlorophenoxy acetic acid (2,4,5-T); chlorocholine chloride (CCC); salicylic acid (SA); B-naphthol and atonik (an aromatic nitro compound) with their different concentrations were sprayed on mung bean in order to see their effect on podding and yield. All the growth regulators except TIBA significantly increased the pod number per plant and yield. Maximum yield (17. 95 q/ha) was obtained with B-naphthol (10 ppm) during the year 1979. Non-significant differences were obtained among different treatments for grain number per pod and 1000 grain weight.
