Summary The growth of Anabaena circularis was undertaken in Allen and Arnon's and Chu's modified no. 10 media. The growth in nitrogen substituted media was more as compared to nitrogen free media. Under different lights, growth was found to be in the order of white > yellow > red > blue > green. All attempts to grow the alga heterotrophically failed. The significance of the results is discussed.
