Physiological Indices for High Yield Potential in Wheat

Summary Screening of promising wheat varieties for South Bengal, on the basis of physiological indices, is being attempted. Based on physiological analysis of growth and yield attributes, HP 1094 and Sonalika are considered to be the most suitable. The highest yield attained by HP 1094 is mainly due to the test weight coupled with greater translocation efficiency; whereas in Sonalika the increased productivity is sustained mainly by greater LAI and effective tillering.
