Summary The cv. Multifreser of pea piants was raised in sand culture with nitrogen free nutrient solution. Treatments with kinetin and IAA in different concentrations were given through the rooting medium. Plant height, fresh and dry weights of plant components increased with increasing concentrations of kinetin and was evident upto 44x10−9 M. The yield components also increased with same treatments. Reverse trend was obtained with IAA treatments for the growth characters, but the yield components were increased with the application of lower concentrations. The efficiency of nodules to fix nitrogen was maximum with 22x10−9 M kinetin. All the IAA treatments increased nitrogen fixing efficiency of nodules. A negative correlation (r = -0.380) exists between dry weight and nitrogen fixing efficiency of nodules.
