Abstract

Summary The effects of hormones (viz., GA3, KN and IAA) during seed development on the vigour of subsequently formed seeds have been studied in Pisum sativum T163 and Vicia faba Seeds from hormonal treated pods exhibited enhancement of seedling growth. Number of hormonal applications is generally paralleled by the extent of growth enhancement except in Vicia in which just one application of hormone is found to be sufficient for maximum epicotyl growth. The maximum effective hormone was found to be GA3 followed by KN. IAA, on the other hand, was found to be least effective.
