The higher levels of nitrogen and crude protein were tound in the twigs of the trees during induction and breaking phases of dormancy as compared to deep dormancy. The total carbohydrates and C/N ratio were maximum during deep dormancy and the amount of carbohydrates decreased as the time advanced towards dormancy break. The total sugars concentration was highest in the induction phase and their level decreased during deep dormancy and again there was a continuous increase in sugar level during breaking phase of dormancy. The starch content was maximum during deep dormancy and minimum in the induction phase. Total phenolics contrarily were maximum in the induction phase and minimum during deep dormancy. An increase in phenolics was tound towards dormancy break.
