Nitrate reductase activity (NRA) was assayed in fourty-four sunflower genotypes at pre-and post-flowering stages. A correlation between NRA and seed yield was worked out. It was noticed that NRA at pre-flowering stage (53rd day) has significant positive correlation (r=0.30) with seed yield under normal conditions. Genotypes have been classified in three groups based on NRA activity.
