Abstract

Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, which has aspartate and alanine as short term products of photosynthesis, shows the presence of aspartate decarboxylase. There is indication of presence of two types of aspartate decarboxylase which give α- and β- alanine with externally supplied 14C-aspartate. The presence of activity of aspartate decarboxylase is discussed in the light of levels of different enzymes such as malic enzymes and aminotransferases.
