Abstract

Plant height and internodal length decreased with Cfl and increased with GA3 treatments. Leaf number, orientation and chlorophyll contents were differentially affected with hormonal as well as with short day cycles, GA3 increased both number and length of stolons with increasing number of short day cycles. Number of tubers produced per plant was high in Cfl treated plants exposed to continuous illumination and five and six short day cycles in comparison to GA3 and controls. However, tuber number remained higher in GAs treated sets than controls under all photoperiodic variations. Number of stolons as well as tuber yield increased in Cfl treated plants exposed to continuous illumination and five, six and seven short day cycles and later decreased upto 15 short day cycles while GA3 invariably decreased tuber yield.
