Abstract

The macro-nutrient contents of apple leaves indicated a pronounced stionic influence. Cultivar ‘Rymer’ showed higher N and Mg and lower P and Ca values than ‘Red Delicious’ and ‘Jonathan’. The maximum K content was recorded in ‘Red Delicious’ followed by ‘Rymer’ and ‘Jonathan’ respectively. Cultivars grafted on vigorous rootstocks, viz; Ml 3 and Crab C, showed relatively higher N, K and Mg contents than those on M2 and Merton 793 comparatively dwarfing stocks, while reverse trends were observed for P and Ca values. Positive correlations were recorded between cross sectional area/yield, N,K, Mg; N with K and Mg and P with Ca content. Cross sectional area with P and Ca; and K with Ca and P exhibited negative correlations.
