Abstract

Wheat cultivars Kalyansona, HD 2009, Sonahka, Hira, Shera, BM, (35), 125-6, 524-3, 203-2 (T. aestivum L.); HD 4502, Jai Raj, Malav Raj, 73-4-1, 180-7 and 391-3-1 (T. durum) were raised under optimal field cultural practices during four wheat crop seasons at IARI, New Delhi. Data on changes in total dry weight and leaf area indices at different intervals upto flowering time showed no significant differences among varieties. It was concluded that the present day wheat varieties do not differ in their net assimilation rates and crop growth rates at least upto flowering.
