Physiological Analysis of Yield Variation in Pea (Pisum Sativum L.) Genotypes

Abstract

Three genotypes of Pea (Pisum Sativum L.) were studied for their number of leaves, leaf area, relative growth rate (RGR) and net assimilation rate (NAR) in pot as well as ield experiments. The varietal differences in respect of the number of leaves, leaf area (dm2), RGR/NAR were found to be statistically significant. The positive and significant correlation of RGR with grain yield was observed at the time of flowering and pod development stages, where as, in case of NAR it was found to be so only at the time of the flowering. Thus, these physiological paramenters may be considered as suitable indices for selecting plant types for higher yield potentials.
