High molecular weight proteins (fraction I) of castor been seedlings were not much sensitive to different concentrations of GA or IAA, whereas low molecular weight proteins (fraction II) were sensitive. However, the decrease observed in the acid phosphatase activity of fraction I with IAA at higher concentration may be due to the binding of IAA metabolties with sulfbydryl groups of the enzyme. On the other band, an increase in the enzyme activity in fraction II at 1.0 μM GA treatment reflects partly the de nove synthesis of the enzyme at this concentration. Higher concentration of GA (5 μM) or IAA (10−3 M) were detrimental to enzyme synthesis.
