In this experiment conducted to study the effect of sulpher fertilization at different stages of plant growth on S/N and C/N status of mustard Brassica campestris L. Var. Sarsan Prain, cultivar type 42) plants, The plant growth in terms of dry matter content in all plant parts was improved in sulphur fertilized plants. Maximum production of dry matter occurred when sulpher fertilization was done at an early stage of plant growth. Split application of sulphur at different stages of growth also improved the growth of plants in comparison to late application. A parallelism existed between C/N and S/N status of plants. High C/N and S/N ratio were found to be linked with better plant growth and early application of Sulphur, which appeared to be related with higher requirements of sulphur in mustard plants.
