Effect of Moisture Stress on Nitrate Reductase Activity in Rice in Relation to Drought Tolerance

Effect of moisture stress on nitrate reductase activity was studied in 28 rice genotypes. Nitrate reductase activitv decreased under moisture stress. Stabilisty of nitrate reductase activity under moisture stress was positively correlated with enzyme recovery on subsequent irrigation. Enzyme stability was also having, close correlation with the leaf relative water content and grain yield recorded under rainfed condition.
