Abstract

Nitrogen fixation, a synthetic process of legumes requires a good amount of carbohydrates and A.T.P. Phosphorus, a key constituent of A.T.P. has a significant role in the energy transfer of various biochemical reactions occurring in the potential process of nitrogen fixation. As the symbiotic legumes account for the fixation of N2 @ 112 to 224 kg/ha/year (Stewart, 1966) their requirement for phosphorus is high. In view of the above facts an attempt was made to study the effect of phosphorus on nodulation and nitrogen fixation in groundnut.
