Abstract

In the present studies, the influence of cycocel (2-chloroethyl trimethyle ammonium chloride) on plant height, total leaf area, yield, yield attributing charecters phtosynthesis and translocation have been studied. It has been shown that the plant size and leaf area got reduced when cycocel was sprayed either at pre or post flowering stages. An increase in seed yield and harvest index was also noted at 3000 ppm concentration, when applied at pre flowering stage. The rate of carbon dioxide fixation was not much affected but the translocation of sucrose from the leaf to the capitulum was enhanced.
