Abstract

Studies on post harvest Ethephon dipping of fruits on occurrenc of spongy tissue disorder in Alphonso mango were conducted in the laboratory of Department of Horticulture, College of Agriculture. Dapoli. It was observed that post harvest dipping of mango fruits in 500 ppm. 750 ppm and 1000 ppm solution of Ethephon reduced the occurrence of spongy tissue disorder in Alphonso mango. The treatment of Ethephon also enhanced the ripening of fruits by 2 to 3 days. However fruits treated with 750 ppm, 1000 ppm Ethephon solution slightly reduced the keeping quality, where as 500 ppm was not that detremental.
