Abstract

Changes in protein, soluble protein, free amino acids and ribonucleic acid and enzymes protease and ribonuclease were determined in bajra (Pennigetum typhoides S & H) leaves under two concentrations of NaCl salinity 0.2 (34.2 meq) and 0.4% (68.4 meq) during progressive maturation. Protein and ribonucleic acid contents decreased by salinity. Soluble protein showed a little variation while amino acids content, protease and ribonuclease activities were found to be higher in salinized plant leaves.
