Effect of CCC and Kinetin on Seed Germination and Early Seedling Growth in Wheat Under Saline Conditions

Abstract

The effect of CCC and kinetin was investigated on germination and early seedling growth of wheat under different salinity levels. There was no difference in the germination percentage at low salinity levels (0, 4, 8 mmhos/cm) but at higher salinity levels (12, 16 mmhos/cm) germinability of seed decreased. Germination relative index (GRI) also decreased as the salinity level increased. Kinetin gave higer GRI as compared to control and CCC at higher salinity levels. Salinity had more adverse effect on coleoptile length and weight as compared to root.
