Abstract

Effect of NaCl salinity on growth and activities of aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase and glutamate dehydrogenase was investigated in wheat cv.WH-157 plants grown in sand culture. Salinity treatments resulted ingraded reduction in plant growth in terms of all the growth parameters studied i.e. fresh and dry weights, plant height, leaf number and leaf area. Plants grown under saline conditions showed increases in the activity of aspartate and alanine aminotransferases and glutamate dehydrogenase enzymes in roots and leaves.
