Abstract

Adopting radioaasay technique, four cotton genotypes differing in boll weight were compared for CO2 fixation rate and translocation of assimilates from the photosynthesising organs (leaf and bract). The variety ‘Lankart 3840’ had higher boll weight and recorded higher rates of CO2 fixation by the bract and transfer of assimilates to the seeds in the developing boll than H 14 with lower boll weight.
