U.P. Council of Sugarcane Research, Shahjahanpur-242000
In order to determine the association between climatic factors and cane yield, the data of 10 years viz., 1971 to 1980 were analysed at the U.P. Council of Sugarcane Research, Shahjahanpur. The results showed that the yield of cane was influenced to the maximum by the total rainfall of the crop season as compared to the other climatic factors. The rains at planting had adverse effects white during germination, tillering, elongation and ripening phases increased the yield of cane, of these the rains at elongation phase followed by tillering phase had the maximum beneficial effects. During elongation phase the rains in June, July and August had favourable effect on the yield of cane. Variation in rainfall was more than the variation in yield of sugarcane as evident from the coefficient of variation of the Both variables.
