Effect of pretreatment of seed on the growth and yield of wheat
Abstract
Influence of presowing treatments (Presoaking cycles) with gibberellic acid (GA3 10−6M) and cycocel (CCC 10−5M) and their combination (CCC 10−5 10M+GA3 10−6 10M) was studied on growth and yield of wheat cv. Lok-1 (Triticum aestivum L) and cv. Arnej (Triticum durum Desf.). CCC+GA3 pretreatment was quite influential in increasing the growth and yield components followed by GA3 in Arnej. The effects of CCC were not well pronounced. 1000-grain weight was not higher in pretreated seeds of both the varieties. However the beneficial effects decreased with the increase in the number of pretreatment cycles in both the varieties.
