Abstract

The effect of sulphur and zinc application on the yield and nutrient uptake of wheat was studied in a green house experiment on a sandy loam soil. The grain and straw increased with S and Zn application and their interaction effect was significant on grain yield only. Sulphur content and uptake increased with sulphur levels and reduced by zinc application. Similar results were obtained with zinc. The concentration and uptake of the other nutrients viz., N, P, K, Ca and Mg were also influenced by S and Zn fertilization. S/Zn ratio in plants was narrowed down with an increase in Zn application. The decrease in grain and straw yield was associated with S/Zn ratio of 83.6 and 103.7, respectively.
