Abstract

Adopting defoliation and radio-assay techniques, contribution of leaflet, stipule and fruit walls in growth of developing seeds in field pea has been investigated. It is suggested the during the early phase of pod growth, major part of seed requirement for assimilates is fulfilled by the leaflet, while in later stages contribution from fruit walls is increased, Stipules contributed rather marginally that too during the early stage of pod growth.
