A pot experiment was conducted at the crop physiology laboratory of Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, during rabi season of 1981–82 to study the diurnal relation between the stem temperature and leaf water potential in faba bean (vicia faba L.). The stem temperature appeared to be associated with the changes in leaf water potential. It is, therefore, suggested that the stem temperature difference method for monitoring water stress should be reliable in faba bean.
