Effects of different concentrations (1.0, 2.0, 4.5, 10.0, 20.0 mM) each of KCl, K2SO4, KH2PO4 NH4NO3 and NH4Cl on glutamine synthe tase (GS), glutamate synthase (GOGAT) and glutamate dehydrogenase (GDH) activity in the primary leaves of Vigna mungo were studied. Supply of lower concentrations of KCl, KH2 PO4 and K2 SO4 to detached leaves, promoted the activity of all the three enzymes. Ammonium chloride and ammonium nitrate had little effect on GS activity, but in creased the activities of GDH and GOGAT at lower concentration.
