The effect of nitrogen nutrition on the water relations of wheat flag leaf was studied. The major component of water relation i.e., water potential of leaf (ψ) significantly increased whereas the osmotic potential decreased due to high nitrogen treatment. These changes have been attributed to increase in tissue elasticity (bulk modulus of elasticity) and the apoplastic water content of leaf. The relative water content of leaf (RWC) was not affected by nitrogen nutrition.
