Influence of ABA on production of caroienoids and chlorophylls a and b was investigated using the excised cucumber cotyledon greening system. It is suggested that ABA inhibits chlorophyll synthesis through different pathway and is not mediated via its inhibitory effect on carotenoid synthesis.
