The influence of linuron (3-(3-4-dichloro-phenyl-1-mcthoxy-1-methyl urea) was used as pre-emergence application employing 0.25, 0.50 and 0.75 kg. a.l/ha alongwith water spray as control; The suitable does of linuron was analysed on the basis of weed killing action and its stimulating effect on plant growib, dry matter production, root behaviour physiological (water soluble sugar, photosynthetic pigments and harvest index) efficiency of oat variety IGFRI-S-3021.
Linuron. 0.25 kg a.i/ha exhibited significant increase in leaf number, leaf area length and volume of root and dry matter production of leaf and stem. Such effects on the parameter at 0.50 kg linuron application indicated induced physiological activity of oat plant for reaping high biomass production upto pre flowering stage. At later stage of crop growth (grain development stage), application of 0.50 kg limiron/ha augmented the physiological process (water soluble sugar in flag leaf and speklets of oat) leading to high grain formation of oat. Higher concentration of linuron (0.75 kg/ha) showed a phytotoxic effect on oat crop.
