Studies on the periodic changes in metabolites as influenced by the IBA solution of 0, 50, 100 and 200 ppm (24 h soaking); 500, 1000,1500 and 2000 ppm (30 sec quick dip) and powder form as Seradix B3 were undertaken during rhizogenesis of Sand pear. Among the 24 h soaking IBA, 100 ppm gave the maximum rooting success of 41.16 per cent and this was correlated with higher total sugars, C/N ratio and total phenols, lower starch and total nitrogen after 30 days of storage of cuttings for callusing. The lowest rooting sucess of 20.12 per cent in untreated cuttings was associated with maxium starch content, higher total nitrogen and the lower level of total sugars, C/N ratio and total phenols. Higher concentrations (quick dip) and Seradix B3 (powder form of IBA) were in no way superior to lower doses in giving rooting success. The rhizogenesis in pear had positive correlation with the changes in total sugars, C/N ratio and total phenols whereas starch and total nitrogen content were negatively associated with it.
