Four varieties of mungbean grown at effective density of 15 and 30 plants/m2 were analysed at maturity for various yield components. Number of pods per plant was found to be the most sensitive yield component under higher planting density. The branch number, flower number and fruit number were reduced under higher plant population specially in PS 7 due to which yield did not increase under higher density. S 8 was least affected. Seed size was drastically reduced in Pusa Baisakhi.
