Investigations were carried out to know the effect of spraying ascorbic acid (AA) used at two doses (i.e. 0.3 and 0.6 mM) and applied at prebloom on flower bud/boll production/shedding and seed yield cv. L. Bikaneri)of cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.). There was a significant increase in seed yield per plant as well as per hactare basis. This increase in seed yield could be attributed to enhancement in flower/boll production per plant rather than controlling effect on their abscission. The effect was found to be dependent on the doses of ascorbic acid.
