Abstract

Variation in grain yield and its parameters as influenced by different levels and forms of nitrogen were studied in wheat. Nitrate-nitrogen gave significantly higher dry matter and grain yield as compared to ammonium-nitrogen. Grain weight was affected, giving higher grain yield in nitrate-nitrogen supplied plants than to those supplied with ammonium nitrogen. The size of the ‘potential sink’ in wheat is variable and the yield potential is rather high and not yet fully exploited.
