Abstract

A pot culture experiment was conducted to study the effect of a small increase to temperature on growth, nitrate reductase activity (NRA) and glycolate oxidase activity (GOA) at various stages of growth. Temperature treatment significantly increased leaf area development and dry matter prior to grain filling stage. However, the ear dry weight decreased nearly 100% in temperature treated plants. NRA did not seem to be limiting leaf area development and dry matter accumulation. On the other hand, increased GOA in flag leaf could have contributed to reduced ear dry weight.
