Adaptation and yield of potato under low light intensity

Low light (25% of normal sun light) during tuber development phase of potato cv. Kufiri Jyoti increased chlorophyll content and size of the leaf but decreased the specific leaf weight (SLW) and also gain in it (SLW) during day. A significant diminution in the tuber yield was also observed under shade due to reduction In tuber size apparently caused by less partitioning (harvest index) of lower biomass produced. Tuber growth was observed to be entirely source limited.
