Effect of phosphorus and zinc on growth patterns of pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp) grown during winter season

Abstract

The effect of different levels of phosphorus (0, 35, 70 and 105 kg P2O5/ha) and zinc (0, 10 and 20 kg ZnSO4/ha) was studied on the growth pattern of H Y3C and 20 (105) varieties of pigeon-pea. Application of phosphorus and zinc greatly influenced the leaf area index, dry matter accumulation in leaf, stem, pod and crop growth rate of pigeonpea varieties. Growth parameters were increased significantly by the application of phosphorus and zinc upto 105 and 20 kg/ha respectively. Variety HY3C expressed its superiority in respect to all these characters over 20 (105).
